Where will you be working

Working as a Practical Facilitator at NHL Stenden,  at Restaurant Wannee you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a thriving restaurant kitchen, working with other Practical Facilitators and reporting to the Head Chef.  You will have a group of students ranging from different levels and expertise are part of your supervision.   With the students you create culinary concepts, make critical inquiries on management competencies and facilitate them as they navigate in developing themselves into future professionals.

What you will be doing

As a Professional, you bring expertise and stay updated on industry trends. You identify and suggest improvements for operational bottlenecks, contribute to teaching, workshops, research development, and offer creative input for menu development.

In your role as Coach, you ensure organized kitchen operations, prioritize safety, and enhance service quality through effective communication and guidance. You train and track student performance and provide coaching to students, overseeing their work and offering specific feedback.

As a Team Member, you collaborate within a result-oriented team, actively sharing knowledge, ensuring daily operational standards and seeking feedback for personal development.

In the capacity of System Manager, you troubleshoot equipment issues, maintain organizational structure, develop systems and contribute suggestions for equipment management and room design, while managing and monitoring supplies.

Applicant profile:

As chef your responsibilities are both educational and operational:

  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and prepare food in advance, ensuring adherence to recipes and standards.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen while ensuring compliance with HACCP regulations.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

  • Four or more years of recent practical experience in hospitality, alongside a relevant higher vocational degree (e.g., Chef papers, MBO, or Bachelor’s Degree).
  • Proficient in English at Cambridge Level B2, with knowledge of planning and developing learning activities, methods, and assignments.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge in education, including insight into professional developments and an educational didactic endorsement or a willingness to obtain one.

Availability:

  • You are available to work a flexible rotating schedule with all other Practical Facilitators From Monday to Sunday including holidays.
  • You are available from 6am – 11:30pm depending on the shift scheduled.
  • You are comfortable being the key kitchen contact on any scheduled shift.

You will have regular contact with the Head of Department, students, other departments, lecturers, and suppliers for coordination and communication purposes.

  • Depending on your knowledge and experience, the salary range of € 2.724,20 - € 4.085,57 gross per month for a full-time job based on scale 7-8 of the compensation and benefits of NHG.

  • Other conditions include a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, paid parental leave, a bicycle scheme and travel compensation as well as other insurance schemes.
  • The initial term of your employment contract will be for 1 year, with an expectation of renewal.
